Burg Giebichenstein - University of Art and Design Halle, founded in 1915, is a public art school seated in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. It has a total of more than 1,000 students currently enrolled in study programs in two departments: the Department of Art, and the Department of Design. The Department of Art provides the Diploma programs “Painting/Graphics“ (specializations Image – Space – Object – Glass, Book Art, Graphics, Painting, Textile Art), “Plastics“ (specializations: Figurative Sculpture, Metal Sculpture; Ceramics; Jewellery; Time-Based Arts: Film, Video, Performance, Mixed Media) and “Art Education“, the teacher education program “Art“, as well as the postgraduate programs “Fine Arts“, and “Master Class Studies“. The Department of Design comprises the Bachelor degree programs “Industrial Design“ (specializations: Industrial Design, Game and Learning Design, Ceramics and Glass Design), and “Fashion Design“ (specilizations: Fashion, Textiles), as well as the Master programs “Industrial Design“ (specializations: Industrial Design, Design of Playing and Learning, Product Design and Applied Art: Porcelain, Ceramics and Glass), “Interior Architecture“ (specializations: Interior Architecture, Furniture and Interior Design), “Communication Design (specializations: Photography, Editorial Design), “Fashion Design“ (Conceptual Fashion Design, Conceptual Textile Design), as well as “Multimedia/VR Design“ (specialization: Multimedia Design).
