The HafenCity University Hamburg, founded in 2006 by the amalgamation of four departments of three higher education institutions in Hamburg, is a public university specializing in architecture and metropolitan development. It is supported by the Behörde für Wissenschaft und Forschung der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg. Almost 2,500 students are enrolled at the HafenCity University Hamburg. The scope of course offerings includes undergraduate Bachelor programs and consecutive Master programs uniting aspects from the fields of Natural and Engineering Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as Layout and Design. At Bachelor’s level, the University offers the degree courses “Architecture“ (B.Sc.), “Civil Engineering“ (B.Sc.), “Geomatics“ (B.Sc.), and “Urban Planning“ (B.Sc.). At Master’s level, prospective students can choose between the study courses “Architecture“ (M.Sc.), “Architectural/Infrastructural Engineering“ (M.Sc.), “Urban Planning“ (M.Sc.), “Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning“ (M.Sc.), and “Urban Design“ (M.Sc.).
