The University of Art Kassel, founded in 1947, is an internationally oriented public school of fine art seated in Kassel, Hesse. It unites scientific, artistic, and art-related educational study programs. Approximately 1,000 students receive an artistic and scientific education. Prospective students can choose between five degree courses: “Visual Arts“ (Künstlerischer Abschluss/Master of Fine Arts, Master-class), “Art Education“ (State Examination), “Art History and Theory“ (B.A., M.A.), “Product Design“ (Diploma), and “Visual Communication“ (Künstlerischer Abschluss/Master of Fine Arts, Master-class). Being a university that is entitlted to confer doctoral degrees, the University of Art Kassel offers doctorates in the fields of Fine Arts, Art Education, and Design Studies. All applicants are subject to an admission procedure.
