The University of Kiel is a public university seated in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein. Established in 1665 and accomodating 26,600 students, it is both Schleswig-Holstein’s oldest and largest institution of higher education. The University is organized into eight faculties: the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering. Prospective students are offered 185 undergraduate and graduate study courses. Undegraduate courses (e. g. “Industrial Engineering“, “Prehistorical and Historical Archaelogy“, “Home Economics“, “Materials Science“, “Frisian Studies“, “Agricultural Sciences“) lead to the following degrees: Bachelor, Diploma, State Examination, Ecclesiastical Examination; graduate studies (e. g., “AgriGenomics“, “Biological Oceanography“, “Climate Physics: Meteorology and Physical Oceanography“, “Dairy Science“, “Digital Communications“, “Hospital Management“) lead to a Master’s degree.
