University of Music Freiburg

The University of Music Freiburg, founded in 1946, is a public music university seated in Freiburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Round about 500 students receive a musical and artistic education across the wide range of musical professions. The scope of studies offered includes the eight-semester degree program “Bachelor of Music“ (B.Mus.), the fourth-semester consecutive Master program “Master of Music“ (M.Mus.), the fourth-semester postgraduate program “Concert Exam/Masterclass“, the fourth-semester postgraduate program “Freiburg Opera Studio“, the eight-semester undergraduate program “Bachelor of Music/Church Music“ (B.Mus.), the fourth-semester consecutive Master program “Master of Music/Church Music“ (M.Mus.), as well as the teacher education program “Music Teacher Education“ (B.Mus./State Examination). Major subjects include the following subjects: accordion, recorder, harpsichord/fortepiano, choir conducting, electronic media, elementary music education, ensemble singing, bassoon, film score, viola, aural training, vocals, guitar, harp, historical performance practice, horn, clarinet, piano, composition, contrabass, sounds, song interpretation, music & movement/rhythm, music education, music theory, orchestra conducting, oboe, organ, trombone, transverse flute, saxophone, drums, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, and violoncello. The University of Music Freiburg offers doctoral studies in musicology and music education. Admission to study is subject to the completion of an aptitude test.
