Not getting enough experience with dual studies. What do I do?

Hello! I decided to do a dual studies program in Management, because I thought it’s the perfect way to gain experience and learn the theory. However, the company where I am doing my training is not great in my opinion. Instead of doing something productive, I usually print documents, answer calls or reply to emails every day. I thought I will earn professional experience and practice what I learn from uni, but all day I am just bored. Do you know what I can do now? I don’t want to drop out and give up on my degree, but I don’t want to work for this company too.

That’s interesting and unusual for dual study programs. My girlfriend is doing a dual study in finance and she is very happy with the experience she gets. Maybe change the company?

Hey George! What kind of dual study program are you doing? Training integrated, practice integrated, job integrated? I think it depends on the type of the program??

Well you shouldn’t drop out that’s for sure! I would start by talking to your employer and saying that the experience doesn’t match your expectations. After all you are there to learn and gain skills and according to what you’re saying, you aren’t doing that. If nothing changes, complain at your uni. I am sure that there is a way to change the company you are working for if this treatment continues.

Which year are you in? Maybe if you’re a first-year student, they don’t want to give you more difficult tasks, because they don’t think your ready or don’t want to give you too much work.

@ Ayla I’m in my 2nd year.. I will definitely speak to my supervisor, but maybe I should speak to my professor too.. I want to do more work, not just this…
