Der Zug ist zudem das schnellste und bequemste Verkehrsmittel, um innerhalb von Österreich zu reisen. Eine Fahrt von St. Pölten in die österreichische Hauptstadt Wien dauert nur rund 40 Minuten pro Strecke und kostet zwischen 5 und 20 Euro. Studierende in St. Pölten haben die großartige Möglichkeit, einige ihrer Wochenenden damit zu verbringen, im schönen Österreich herumzureisen und unvergessliche Erinnerungen zu erlangen.

Located in the heart of Europe, St.Polten is a city that has much to offer, including an excellent level of higher education. The local St. Polten University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1993, is modern, well-equipped and aims to give students a practice-oriented education rather than provide them solely with theoretical knowledge. Currently, the university is home to over 3,000 students from all around the world, including China and Australia. The higher education institution offers a wide spectrum of different degree courses students can choose from, including IT Security, Media Management, Physiotherapy, and many others. Even though German is considered the main language of instruction, most of the degree courses are also taught in English. Choosing a university and a degree course to study is important for every prospective student. However, accommodation is the next thing students need to think about before starting their big adventure. In St. Polten, students can either live in a student dormitory or find a place to live themselves. There are several student halls of residence in the city and they all provide offer different types of rooms and apartments. Depending on the size of the room and whether there is any furniture in it, prices vary between 200 and 300 EUR per month. Student dormitories may be the cheapest type of student accommodation, but the places available there are limited. Students really need to apply as early as possible so that they have better chances of getting a room there. Private accommodation comes at a higher price in the city of St. Polten. For a single room in a shared apartment students can expect to pay between 250 and 350 EUR per month. The price always depends on the location of the flat and the size of the room as well.

ST. PÖLTEN LIFESTYLE

The beautiful city of St. Polten amazingly combines different architectural styles, with modern and baroque buildings lending the city a very specific charm no other place has. But the city has so much more to offer than just a great atmosphere. The state museum of Lower Austria, also called the Landesmuseum, is situated in St.Polten. It exhibits a very interesting collection of art, the city’s history from the Middle Ages to present times, as well as the history of the regional environment. The museum is a must place to go for sure. Apart from the advantages of cultural life in the city, St.Polten can also offer exciting nightlife to all the local students. Pub Manhattan is the place located right in the city center where the best cocktails in town are made. Meanwhile, the Underground bar is where all the students meet, especially on Friday and Saturday night. There is something for everyone in St.Polten.

Die größten Arbeitgeber in der Stadt kommen aus der herstellenden Industrie und dem Ingnieurwesen. Die Voith Group ist ein multinationales Unternehmen, das im Maschinenbau tätig ist. Auch wenn sich der Hauptsitz von Voith in Deutschland befindet, unterhält das Unternehmen eine Zweigstelle in St. Pölten, die vielen Menschen die Möglichkeit gibt, eine berufliche Laufbahn aufzubauen. Zahlreiche Technikstudierende der Fachhochschule absolvieren ihr Praktikum dort und verbringen ein Semester damit, von Fachkräften auf diesem Gebiet zu lernen. Während einige es vorziehen, nach dem Studium in der Stadt zu bleiben, ziehen andere stattdessen in die Hauptstadt. In Bezug auf Karrierechancen bietet die Stadt Wien in der Tat deutlich mehr Karrierechancen. Auch sind die Gehälter in Unternehmen, die in der Hauptstadt Österreichs ansässig sind, höher, was eine weitere Motivation für angehende Berufstätige darstellt.
