In the northernmost part of the Central Hessian Lahn-Dill region lies the city of Dietzhölztal with a population of nearly 6,000 people. The city got its name from the Dietzhölztal river flowing through three of the city’s districts. Although relatively small in size compared to the majority of the university cities in Germany, Dietzhölztal offers an ideal place to live and study in. The friendly community with its warm hospitality, beautiful scenery spots and diverse cultural life is what attracts young adults and visitors here every year. Located at the foot of the Rothaar Mountain and a beautiful surrounding area, the city offers some great opportunities for outdoor activities, especially with the 14 long-distance hiking trails within the region. Dietzhölztal lies in an oceanic climatic zone and is sometimes exposed to external influences due to the low mountain range surrounding the city. Summers here are usually warm with nice sunny days and temperatures reaching up to 26 °C or 27 °C. In winter temperatures drop below 0 °C, and in January, the coldest month of the year, they might even reach -4 °C to -5 °C. The relatively small size of the city allows it citizens to reach most of the areas walking or cycling. However, the local public transportation network is also well-developed, with city buses connecting all districts of Dietzhölztal.

STUDYING IN DIETZHÖLZTAL
The Theological College Ewersbach, established in 1912, is the only higher education institution in the city. In 1946 it was decided for the seminary to relocate to Ewersbach, which is now a district of Dietzhölztal and the reason behind the current name of the college. The primary mission of the college is to educate and qualify people for a pastoral ministry in church and mission through the academic study of Protestant Theology. Students can choose from two types of Bachelor degree courses and Master degree courses in Protestant Theology. Both Bachelor courses are with a focus on practice with Biblical Greek language studies, however students can further decide if they want the program to include Hebrew studies or not. The two courses are identical in their first year, allowing students enough time to make a decision on how they would like to proceed their education. It is important for students coming to a new city for their studies to grow fast into the new environment and community. One of the ways to do so is through the choice of their future accommodation, preferably in a student residence hall. The latter allows young adults to live closely to each other and spend more time together and meeting new people. Students of the Theological College will have the chance to move into one of the dormitories located directly on campus. Single rooms in shared flats are offered for a monthly fee of around 175 to 190 EUR including utility bills. These options are for single students only, married couples must find an apartment on the housing market of Dietzhölztal.
DIETZHÖLZTAL LIFESTYLE
Regardless of its size, Dietzhölztal, along with the Theological College, offers a diverse cultural life with multiple leisure activities so that students can unwind from all of the studies they have to do. On campus young adults can take part in a spiritual community where twice a week a different performance made by students and lecturers takes place. In addition, there are many opportunities for exercise, allowing students to stay active while practicing their favorite sport. Right behind the dormitory, for example, there is a grass court and underneath the dorm in the basement students can find an exercise room. The nearby forest is perfect for those who like to start their day with a jog or end it with a long relaxing walk through green landscapes and beautiful scenery spots. Right next to the forest there is a reservoir with a lake ideal for bathing on hot summer days or skating in the colder months. There are plenty of cultural activities taking place all year round as well within Dietzhölztal, and which are affordable for students. For starters, there are many clubs and associations in the city revolving around different activities such as singing in a choir, sports clubs, volunteer firefighters etc. where everyone who is interested can join and participate in various activities. Festivals and markets such as Wochenmarkt, Grillfest and Weinfest where locals gather to celebrate their culture and traditions with music, great food and drinks and good friends are held throughout the year. Such events are just the right opportunity for newcomers to explore the local traditions and meet new people while having fun. Travel lovers can easily explore the country by visiting the closest bigger cities to Dietzhölztal, namely Marburg, Siegen, or Giessen.

Graduates from the Theological College Ewersbach can benefit from a state-recognized degree, which will give them a wide range of job opportunities all around Germany and potentially also abroad.
