About 30 kilometers north from Hamburg is situated the beautiful city of Elmshorn. The town is part of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein federal state, extending across a total area of 22 km2. It is home about 50,000 people. The climate in the city is warm and temperate. From December through February temperatures are between -2 to 4 °C, while in July and August temperatures go up to 22 °C. Moreover, there is a significant amount of rainfall during the whole year so people who are about to move to Elmshorn should always consider taking an umbrella when leaving their homes. The city is rather small and everything is located in a walking distance. STUDYING IN ELMSHORN

Despite its size, the city of Elmshorn does offer an excellent level of higher education. The North Academy College of Business is a state-approved private higher education institution situated in the city of Elmshorn. Founded in 1992, the university is currently home to nearly 2,000 students from all around the world. On offer are different degree courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Students can choose between Business Computer Science, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering and many more courses. The main language of instruction at the Academy College is German. All Bachelor degree programs are taught in German. The Master degree program of Business Administration, however, has an international orientation and therefore is offered in both German and English. When it comes to student accommodation, students often look for a balance between quality and price. In Elmshorn, students can choose between living in a student dormitory and finding a place to live themselves. Living in a student dormitory in Germany is considered the best and the cheapest option. Moreover, students in Elmshorn benefit from the available on-campus accommodation offered by the Academy College. The monthly rent there costs 1,300 EUR per month, and the student hall can accommodate exactly 60 students. Places in the student dormitories are strictly limited and the allocation of rooms happens on a first-come-first-serve basis. The earlier one applies, the better. Off-campus accommodation is the other option students have but it is considered more expensive and at the same time more difficult to find. Usually, students pay between 1,400 to 1,600 EUR per month.

Whenever one wants to take a break from the studying activities, the Rosengarten park will be the ideal place to go. It is a very big place with lots of beautiful gardens, green grass and huge trees. It is ideal for a picnic with friends or just for a walk. And in the winter when the weather is not that good for going to the park, students can meet at one of the many cute and cozy coffee places in town. Jim Coffey Deli – Bar – Café is a very famous place where the best coffee in town is made. Café Lykke is another very good spot, where people can find unique and extremely delicious sweet waffles to combine with a cup of good cappuccino.
