FLENSBURG AT A GLANCE
Flensburg is located in the Schleswig-Holstein state in the northernmost part of Germany. The city is very close to the Danish border and has a nice view towards the Baltic Sea. This small sea cost paradise is a lot more different than the rest of the cities in many aspects, for example in terms of the architectural style here that unlike Munich or Berlin manifests itself in rather smaller houses in a Scandinavian style. Furthermore, Flensburg is an important maritime center with its trading port and cosmopolitan harbor. Probably the most exceptional and inspiring thing about this city is the way it values Danish culture making it possible for Danish minorities to live in harmony with the local community and feel home even on this side of the border. The climate in Flensburg is influenced by its location on the coast of the Baltic Sea and is characterized by warm summers with light breeze coming from the sea and mild winters. Since it is a relatively small town, most of the things are within walking or cycling distance, however there is a public transport servicing different districts around the city. Buses run on a regular basis but unfortunately not too late at night, however there are also taxis available around Flensburg.
