Moreover, Furtwangen benefits from its location close to both the French and the Swiss border. The city of Furtwangen can offer not only many travel opportunities but also an excellent level of higher education. The local Furtwangen University (HFU) is a leading German research university that provides innovative teaching methods and also has a very international focus. It is headquartered in Furtwangen, as the name implies, and runs another two locations in Villingen-Schwenningen and Tuttlingen.
