Hermannsburg is a small and romantic city in Germany which is part of the Lower Saxony federal state. The city’s total area amounts to nearly 120 km2, with over 8,000 people studying, living and working there. The official language in Hermannsburg is German. Trains connect Hermannsburg through the main train station with the rest of Germany. Hanover is less than an hour away by train from Hermannsburg. Bremen and Hamburg are also not far away and can be visited easily during the weekend. The closest airport is the Hannover Airport, which is only 50 kilometers away from the city center of Hermannsburg. From there, there are direct flights to many places, including Vienna, Varna, Istanbul, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, and many others.

STUDYING IN HERMANNSBURG

Hermannsburg is a city which can offer not only travel opportunities but also an excellent level of higher education. Founded in 2012, the University of Applied Sciences for Intercultural Theology Hermannsburg is currently home to about 100 students. The higher education institution specializes in the areas of intercultural theology, diaconia, and ecumenical cooperation. All students receive a practice-oriented education through very innovative teaching methods. Prospective students can choose between studying Intercultural Theology, Migration and Congregational Leadership, Mission Studies and International Diakonia, and several others. Moreover, there is a graduate program in Intercultural Theology, too. All degree courses offered at the University of Applied Sciences for Intercultural Theology Hermannsburg are taught in English, and therefore applicants are required to provide proof of their level of knowledge in the English language.
