INGOLSTADT AT A GLANCE
This unique German treasure called Ingolstadt can be found in the Bavarian state right on the banks of the river Danube. Whoever comes here will soon find how perfectly balanced the urban and rural lifestyles are, thus creating an ideal place to live and study in. Ingolstadt is often called by its inhabitants ‘’Schanz’’, because of the many military fortifications around the city. Fans of the conspiracy theories will love it here, since this was the birthplace of the Illuminati society, established in 1773 by Adam Weishaupt, a then professor at the University of Ingolstadt. Another interesting thing worth mentioning about this place is that it is the original location of the creation of Frankenstein in the Mary Shelley novel. The continental climate is predominant here with pleasant temperatures during summer and chilly winter days. The public transport system here is served only by buses circulating around all points of the city. Ingolstadt is cycling friendly as well and so many people tend to use their bikes when traveling within the city. Traveling outside of town is fast and easy with a train, providing access to most of the major cities in Germany.

STUDYING IN INGOLSTADT
The Technical University of Ingolstadt (THI) is the only higher learning institute in the city, with over 5,000 students enrolled last year. The university offers its students a wide range of degree courses at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level across three different faculties. One of the key priorities of the university is to provide innovative methods of teaching and practical training in order to assure the quality of the overall education experience. Young adults studying here can receive individual supervision and participate actively in classes by sharing their ideas and views on different subjects. The international profile of THI is also among the key priorities in the mission of the university, which has resulted in the creation of multiple language courses, international degree programs, partnerships with other universities worldwide and many other initiatives. There are various accommodation opportunities for students who wish to live nearby their campus be it in a student residence hall, shared flat or a single room on the private housing market. Due to the increasing number of students each year, it might become difficult to find a room in a student residence towards the start of the semester. Therefore it is highly recommendable that students start searching for a place as early as possible. This can be done through the student organization Studentenwerk or through the THI Marketplace platform where students can find offers for apartments.
