Ismaning is a city in Germany, part of the federal state of Bavaria. Its total area amounts to 40.19 km2, with almost 16,000 people living, studying or working there. Summer there is nice and warm but winter is relatively cold. Munich is located only ten kilometers away from Ismaning and can be reached fast and easy by both train and bus. The Czech Republic and Austria are situated several hours away by train or bus from the city of Ismaning and can be visited during the weekend. Vienna or Prague, too, are definitely attractive destinations for weekend getaways. Also, Munich Airport has a direct connection with the central station of Ismaning. By train, it takes approximately thirteen minutes from Ismaning to the Munich Airport. Students from Ismaning can visit many interesting cities within Europe thanks to the direct flights from Munich Airport. Regular direct flights to Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic and even to Miami or Chicago are possible the whole year from Munich Airport. STUDYING IN ISMANING
The city of Ismaning can offer not only many travel opportunities but also an excellent level of higher education. The University of Applied Management (UAM) is a private higher education institution headquartered in Ismaning, with has another four campuses in Neumarkt, Berlin, Treuchtlingen, and Unna. The university is currently home to almost 3,000 students and aims at providing all of them with a practical education that will lead to successful careers in the future. The University of Applied Management offers a wide range of degree courses students can choose from, including Public Management, Media and Online Marketing, Business Coaching, Business Law and many others. After choosing the right degree course, all students need to find a place to live during their study. The Bavarian state is considered a region with higher prices and therefore student accommodation in the city is not that cheap either. Student can either share a flat with other students where each and every one has its own bedroom or find a studio to rent only for themselves. For a single room in shared flat students can expect to pay between 600 and 780 EUR per month, including all the bills. Studios and one-bedroom apartments are even more expensive and come at the price of 700 to 900 EUR per month.
ISMANING LIFESTYLE
The city of Ismaning might be small but offers everything that a student might need. There are museums in the city, several multi-cuisine restaurants, cozy coffee shops, sports clubs and of course, the biggest pride of Ismaning – the Castle Museum. It is a beautiful castle in an English style that also exhibits different objects and documents related to the history if Ismaning. Everyone loves it because it is a nice place to take a walk in and also spend at least a couple of hours to get to know the city’s history. There is a huge variety of different restaurants in the city offering Italian, Greek or French food. Moreover, there are really nice places with Indian food for lovers of a spicy cusine.

Ismaning is a charming and beautiful place but it is quite small and local graduates usually look for career opportunities in Munich instead. Bigger cities usually provide young people with a bigger variety of positions in different fields they can choose from which give them opportunities to build a career. Since Munich is located only ten kilometers away, graduates can still keep living in Ismaning where rents are cheaper but work in Munich and travel back and forth every day.
