CONSTANCE AT A GLANCE
Southern Germany has the third largest lake in Europe – Bodensee (Lake Constance) –, and on its shores lies the beautiful city of Constance with charming architecture, attractive entertainment and cultural life and of course notable university reputation. The city is also sharing a border with Switzerland that is literally across the street since Constance and the Swiss town Kreuzlingen are separated by houses and streets. Constance cherishes the long-established traditions, however is still very keen on adopting the modern ideas and growing its potential of being an economical and cultural hub. The oceanic climate in Konstanz is somewhat influenced by the lake causing humidity during summertime and fog throughout winter. Hot summer days are sometimes cooled down by rain, with June and July being the wettest month, whereas in winter low temperatures and cold weather might even cause freezing of some parts of the lake. Traveling within Constance with use of public transport can be done only with a bus, circulating around all districts of the city. By paying the semester fee at their university, students can obtain a semester ticket valid for six months that they can use for travels with a ferry as well.
