Students in Ludwigsburg have the opportunities to visit many places during their studies. Stuttgart, for example, is situated only fifteen kilometers away from Ludwigsburg main train station and by train or S-Bahn, it takes about twelve minutes only to go there. Stuttgart can be the perfect weekend getaway trip for local students. Karlsruhe and Freiburg are also not far away and can be reached in an hour and hour and a half by train from Ludwigsburg main train station.

STUDYING IN LUDWIGSBURG

There are many students living in the middle-sized city of Ludwigsburg because of both the great atmosphere and of course, the excellent level of higher education that local universities offer. The Ludwigsburg University of Education, founded in 1962, is the biggest university with currently more than 5,000 students enrolled. The higher education institution aims at turning students into professional teachers for primary schools, secondary schools, as well as special schools. On offer are many degree courses students can choose from, including Lifelong Learning, Cultural and Media Education, Early Childhood Education, Religious Education, and many others. Since the main language of instruction is German, the higher education institution requires that students have very good knowledge of the German language. After prospective students have decided where they want to study and what they want to study, they need to think about where they are going to live. Student accommodation is a delicate topic for the majority of the prospective students, especially since everyone tries to find a good place at an affordable price. Students can choose between living in student halls or finding private accommodation themselves. Rentals prices for a single bedroom in shared apartments cost between 300 and 400 EUR per month, while studios and one-bedroom apartments are between 500 and 700 EUR per month with all bills included.

The whole city is really beautiful in a baroque style and during Christmas, it turns into a fairytale town, with a Christmas market and Christmas lights everywhere.
