STUDYING IN MITTWEIDA

Despite the fact that Mittweida is a small city, it does, however, provide excellent educational opportunities to students. Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, aka Hochschule Mittweida in German, for example, is considered to have one of the most modern media centers in Europe. All the classrooms are very well equipped and all the laboratories are new and modern. The university is currently home to more than 8,000 students, including exchange ones. Moreover, fifteen percent of university students who have put their trust in the university are internationals. Students from the higher education institution benefit from a good quality of teaching methods and a huge variety of degree courses offered, including Business Informatics, Biotechnology, Film and Television, and many others. Even though most of the courses are taught in German, there are also many degree programs that are offered in English as a main language of instruction. When it comes to student accommodation, it is not a secret that what every student is looking to find is a balance between price and quality, in addition to a good location of course. Students in Mittweida can choose between living in the student halls or also called student dormitories or find private rooms and flats to rent by themselves. The cheapest and most convenient type of student accommodation still is the good old dormitory. There is a total of four modern university houses based in the city that provide rooms to local students. They are located only a few minutes walking distance from the university campus and really close to the biggest park in the city. Depending on the type of the room, prices vary between 200 and 250 EUR. However, there are not enough places to accommodate all the students in the city, therefore students who want to get a room in the dormitories should apply as early as possible. Fortunately, even if a student does not get a room in the student halls, it is still possible to find and rent a room in a shared flat with other students. Prices, however, are higher, and a room in a shared apartment close to the university comes at the price of 240 to 380 EUR per month.
