NÜRTINGEN AT A GLANCE
Nürtingen is the third-largest city in the district of Efflingen located in the central part of the Baden-Württemberg region. With a population of over 41,000 people this small and quiet town lying on the Neckar river is a perfect place for living and studying. What makes this city so beautiful are the traditional German houses that are very well preserved even to the smallest detail due to the good care that is taken for them regularly by locals. The old town center of the city has a very unusual location being set atop on a hill overlooking the Neckar Valley. The climate here is somewhat of a mixture between maritime and continental. In summertime the average temperature is about 22 ᵒC to 25 ᵒC, with long sunny days. Winters, on the other hand, can get quite cold since Nürtingen lies in one of the coldest areas in Germany, with temperatures often dropping below 0 ᵒC. As it is relatively small in size, most of the places are within a walking or cycling distance, with the bicycle being a preferred way by most of the citizens here of moving around. Public transportation is serviced by buses circulating around all districts, and what is best for students is that after paying the university semester fee they can benefit from a semester ticket allowing them to save even more money and travel regularly with all means of public transportation.

International students are also coming here either for couple of months on an exchange program or for the full duration of a degree course. Newcomers who are not that fluent in German should not worry too much as all professors speak English and the university itself offers a wide range of programs taught in English. NGU offers a residence hall with unfurnished single apartments and single rooms coming with basic equipment such as washing machines and dryers, a wardrobe and a shared kitchen and bathroom for each apartment. Rent starts from 187 EUR for a room in a shared flat and can go up to 302 EUR for a single room. Students will be advised of the application process once they have been admitted to the university. Private accommodation is also an alternative if there are no more available offers for the student residence hall.
