Oldenburg is a city in the German state Lower Saxony based at the two rivers Haaren and Hunte. In the city’s total area of 103,000 km2, there are over 160,000 people living, working and studying. STUDYING IN OLDENBURG

Even though Oldenburg is not a big city, it does offer an excellent level of higher education to students. The University of Oldenburg, also famous as the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, is the most dynamic and highly regarded higher education institution in the northwestern part of the country. Currently, the university is home to more than 15,000 students, both full-time and exchange ones. Foreigners from all around the world have put their trust in the institution. The University of Oldenburg is committed to promoting interdisciplinary studies and internationalization among students. In fact, twenty percent of all the students at the university are coming from different countries. The higher education institution has roughly two hundred partnerships with other institutions around the world. The University of Oldenburg offers a wide spectrum of educational options in different areas, including sciences, economics and business, mathematics, as well as medicine and natural sciences. There are over ninety different degree courses available to students and numerous of them are also offered in English as a main language of instruction. Not only do students have to choose a university and a degree course, they also have to think about where they are going to live once they arrive in the city. The city of Oldenburg is an ideal place for students. It is not that big and it is easy to go from one place to another by bike while escaping from the traffic. On top, students can enjoy the green nature the city has to offer. Meeting new people is also very easy, especially in the summer. This is the time when most of the city residents spend whole days swimming and beaching around the Waldsee which is the lake that everyone loves to visit. And since the nightlife is also important to each and every student, Oldenburg can offer something to everyone. The well-known Wallstrasse, with its many local restaurants and unique bars, is a place that must be visited.
