The beautiful Ottersberg is a city in Germany situated in the federal state of Lower Saxony. Over 13,000 people spread across the city’s total area of almost 100 km2. Even though the most commonly spoken language in the city is German, the young part of the city’s inhabitants can speak English as well. The climate in Ottersberg can be classified as warm and temperate, with moderate temperatures during summer and rather cold winters. In December and January, temperatures are between -1 and 5 °C, and rainfalls are really common during those months. In July and August, meanwhile, temperatures go up to 23 °C. One of the main advantages of living in a small town is that everything is located within a walking distance, which is very convenient. Even so, the city of Ottersberg can still offer a safe and reliable public transportation network that consists of railway and bus lines. Students in Ottersberg and all the travel aficionados living the city can benefit from the city’s ideal location very close to Bremen, Hamburg and Hannover. STUDYING IN OTTERSBERG

Even though it is fairly small, the city of Ottersberg offers those interested in Art and Social Studies excellent higher education opportunities. The University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Ottersberg is a private, state-accredited higher education institution founded in 1967. It is currently home to about 300 students from all around the world. The University offers degree courses at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level, including “Art in Social Contexts”, “Fine Arts”, “Theater in Social Contexts” and more. Since lectures are entirely held in the German language, all applicants are required to provide proof of their level of knowledge in German. Student accommodation is something that concerns every current and prospective student. Most of students are looking to find the perfect balance between price and quality in terms of accommodation. Sometimes, however, finding it might actually take much more time that one can expect. The International Office at the University will support every student with regard to local authorities and accommodation arrangements in the city. In Ottersberg, students most commonly look for private accommodation where several people share an apartment. Every student has a separate bedroom but all of them share a kitchen and bathroom. For a room in a shared apartment in Ottersberg, one can expect to pay between 220 and 360 EUR per month including all the bills. Those students who prefer to live on their own can try to find an affordable one-bedroom apartment or a studio to rent. However, such accommodation will cost more than shared flats in town – between 400 and 500 EUR per month.
