In the Swiss canton of St. Gallen, eastern Switzerland lies Rorschach – an important harbor town with a charming Latin flair. The city has developed a serious reputation of being the most important trading place on the southern part of the Lake Constance in the Middle Ages. Throughout autumns and winters, cold, humid air along with high fog often occur due to the location of the city right on the Lake Constance. With January being the coldest month, Rorschach might experience temperatures as low as -3 °C or -5 °C. The city is quite easy to reach due to its three stations, water and air connections with other cities and countries. The closest bigger city to Rorschach is St. Gallen, which can be reached within less than half an hour. The inner parts of the city are serviced by buses, which are part of the public transport network.

STUDYING IN RORSCHACH

The Swiss Academy of Logopedics Rorschach (SHLR) is the only higher education institution established in Rorschach since 2008. The university aims to educate future speech therapists while focusing on logopedic, medical, psychological, linguistic and other aspects that are crucial for the overall process of treating patients with speech problems, swallowing disorders, and related communication impariments. At the end of the course students should be able to diagnose and clarify independently the state of their patients and take the needed measurers for a therapy. The program takes, as most Bachelor’s degree courses do, six semesters for those who wish to enrol in full-time studies and a maximum of ten semesters for part-time studies. Upon passing all exams, individuals will be awarded the title “Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Language Therapy SHLR“, recognized throughout Switzerland and abroad.
