Rosenheim is a town in Upper Bavaria, southeastern Germany. It is situated in the Inn Valley between Lake Chiemsee and the Wendelstein mountain. The town is located in the Alpine Foothills, so it prides itself on its picturesque landscape and moderate climate all year round. Rosenheim is famous for its beautiful architecture, museums, parks, a rich cultural and modern art scene and the Culture and Congress Centre Rosenheim where various events and exhibitions are held. Rosenheim is no stranger to sport – the town is home to the professional ice hockey team Starbulls Rosenheim. Munich and Salzburg are in close proximity to Rosenheim, as the cities are conveniently linked by railway and motorway. Within the city, buses and taxis run daily for the residents’ convenience. The population of Rosenheim is approximately 60,000 people, or 125,000 with the surrounding area. Mainly German and Bavarian can be heard spoken by Rosenheim inhabitants, but because of the great popularity of Oktoberfest, tourists flood the town every year with the result that English is spoken throughout the town as well. Rosenheim is also a destination with fascinating history which can be traced back to the Roman era. In the middle ages, Rosenheim Castle was built and the town became an important market hub. Today, the town has become an economic center and the busiest place in the region.

STUDYING IN ROSENHEIM

Established in 1971, Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences is a public university that offers a wide variety of degree programs within eight faculties: Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Applied Health and Social Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Wood Technology and Construction, Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Interior Architecture, and Faculty of Management and Engineering. There are currently over 5,000 enrolled students in 23 Bachelor and 11 Master degree programs, including courses in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Interior Architecture, Healthcare Management, Physiotherapy, Management and Leadership, Wood Technology and more. It should be noted that all Bachelor degree programs are taught in German only, but the Master’s in Engineering Sciences and Master’s in Wood Technology are both conducted in English. Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences aims to provide its students with an excellent learning environment and friendly atmosphere, which the committed faculty staff contributes to. Lecturers are determined to give each student individual support and attention by carrying out lessons in small groups and setting up course-specific projects. Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences is focused on giving students the best opportunities for their future careers by establishing a very practice-oriented approach for all programs. There are 18 dual study programs which are perfect for those who want to combine theoretical and practical education. Dual programs at Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences include Interior Architecture, Energy and Building Technology, Plastics Technology, Business Information Technology, Childhood and Youth Education and others. As well as dual studies, extra-occupational studies and continuing education programs are also available. It is advised that students start looking for accommodation options at least two to three months before starting their studies. Munich Student Union offers student accommodation in close proximity to Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences in single rooms, one and two-bed apartments and rooms in flat/house shares. The average monthly rent is around 300 EUR, but prices vary depending on the type and size of accommodation.

ROSENHEIM LIFESTYLE

Rosenheim is a picturesque Bavarian town where tradition and modern trends meet. The town offers a variety of recreational activities with the magnificent view of the Alps. Those staying in Rosenheim can enjoy the nature, go hiking in the mountains, take a walk, or have a picnic in one of the town’s parks – Riedergarten, Mangfallpark and Salingarten. Rosenheim combines historic heritage, which can be seen in the Municipal Museum, the Inn Museum, the Wood Technology Museum, The Klepper Museum and the old beer cellars in the town, with modern art and culture, often exhibited in the Culture and Congress Center, internationally known as "Lokschuppen". Max-Josefs-Platz welcomes tourists with beautiful colored buildings, shops, cafes and restaurants where traditional Bavarian food can be enjoyed. Naturally, the annual Autumn Festival, held from mid-August to late September, attracts visitors from all over the world who come for the Wiesn beer, traditional snacks and music.
