The beautiful Sankt Augustin is a city in Germany situated in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, very close to Cologne and Bonn. With its total area of 35 km2, Sankt Augustin is considered the second-biggest town in the Rhein-Sieg district. Today, there are over 55,000 people who live, work or study in Sankt Augustin, of which six percent are internationals, mostly coming from Hungary, and Poland. Even though the language mostly spoken in the city is German, the young part of the city’s inhabitants can speak English as well. The climate in Sankt Augustin can be classified as warm and temperate, with moderate temperatures during summer and rather cold winters. In December and January, temperatures are between 0 and 2 °C, and rainfalls are really common during those months, while temperatures in July and August go up to 23 °C. Sankt Augustin has a safe and reliable public transportation network that consists of railway and bus lines. Even though it is fairly small, the city of Sankt Augustin offers students an amazing opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in the fields of business, engineering, and IT, among others. The Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences has campuses in Rheinbach, Hennef, and Sankt Augustin. The higher education institution was founded in 1995, and today it is home to nearly 9,000 students. The university offers many degree courses, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Management, Analysis and Design of Social Protection Systems, and many more. Additionally, many of the degree courses offered are not only taught in German as a language of instruction but in English as well. Student accommodation is something that concerns every current and prospective student. From local cuisine to international meals, the town has places that can satisfy even the most luxurious tastes. And whenever students want to go out and party, they can always go to Cologne or Bonn; a one-way journey takes just several minutes only.
