LGBT community in Germany
Published by: EricH
I am planning on studying in Germany for my Bachelor’s degree and I was curious to know more about the gay culture there. I am openly homosexual and I will be spending three years of my life there so I really want to feel comfortable and accepted. Does anyone know anything about the gay scene in some of the major cities like Berlin, Stuttgart or Munich as these are some of the place I am considering?

My personal experience is so far pretty good. I am studying in Berlin and I find people very tolerant towards my secual orientation to be honest. There are many people like me or with other sexual orientations and we all get along pretty well and with other people. I have never been insulted or had any other problems and I can say I am living a pretty normal life for the past year that I have moved here.

The situation here in Cologne is pretty much the same… I mean I guess there will always be those kind of people who might have something against gay people but overall the gay community here is pretty well established with many gay friendly spaces. Also other people living here seem to me pretty liberal and open minded. There are special gay clubs and bars where you can go and meet other people from the LGBTW community so you won’t feel alone.
