Masterchef: student edition. Share your favorite recipes!

Published by:  MarioB

Hey guys, let’s talk about cooking! I didn’t know how to cook before I moved to Germany, but eating in restaurants when you’re a student can be expensive. That’s why I started making easy things and learned quickly. But I don’t have a lot of recipes and I want to know your favorite. I’ll start with a dinner I make very often: veggy curry with rice and chickpeas. It’s easy – I boil rice, grill some vegetables (green beans, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, corn) with chickpeas and add coconut milk and spices to them. I eat it together with the rice. It’s fast and yummy. What’s your favorite recipe?

Hi there!! It was exactly the same for me – before becoming a student I never cooked, because I had food at home and now it’s hard to get used to not having hot meals ready for dinner. I usually buy ready-made meals or instant noodles, but I know those are not healthy at all, so I wanna learn to make more things.

Hello everyone! I actually have the best helper in the kitchen! I got my cookbook HACK YOUR KITCHEN! The Ultimate Cooking Guide for Student Cooking Hunters from the shop section here on the website and its one of the best things I have as a student! It has so many easy recipes for busy students who are also beginners at cooking and all of them are very fast to prepare. I didn’t know how to cook much either when I came to Germany, but now I feel like I can prepare a lot more meals. Seriously recommend it!!

I have a favorite recipe to share – grilled chicken, broccoli and roasted potatoes. It’s very healthy and delicious at the same time. I grill the chicken on the pan with salt pepper and garlic, roast the potatoes in the oven with rosemary and butter and steam the broccoli in water. It doesn’t take much time, but the result is great especially for those who love to work out and stay active. Thanks Kristina for the recommendation – I will check out the book now!

Here’s my favorite student recipe for an easy and delicious breakfasrt: overnight oats. I put my oats in the evening to soak in milk (usually almond, because it’s healthier) and leave them in the fridge all night. In the morning they are fluffy and moist. I usually add some fruit to them, either blueberries or apple and honey as well. The result is very delicious and healthy breakfast which is also very quick to prepare. And it doesn’t need great cooking skills!
