I’m a foreign student in Germany in need of a loan. Where do I apply?

Published by:  IvailoS

Hello everyone!! I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask my question, but I need some help. I’m a student from Bulgaria studying in Germany and could really use a loan for my rent and living expenses. Does anyone know if I can get one as a international student and where should I apply? Thanks in advance :)

I receive a loan, but I’m a German student. I applied with the BAfög and got approved. But I’m not sure if BAfög accepts international students. I think there were some cases but I can’t remember sorry :(

Bafog accepts foreign students only in exceptional cases I think like if you’re a german resident or if your married to a german. You can still apply but they probably wont accept you.

You can try another student loan, not BAfög. I think The Bildungskredit is an option for international students, but I haven’t applied myself, so I can’t tell you for sure. I overheard from my flatmates that one of them got a loan for about 100 euros per month so definitely check that out.

The KfW bank gives out loans even to international students. I receive one for 500 euros a month because of the current situation and its interest free.
