I’m in my final year in school, but don’t know which uni to choose. Need advice!

Hallo! I have a big problem. I’m in my final year in school and still don’t know where to go for uni. I want to study economics, but I don’t know if I should stay in my home town Bonn or move somewhere else to study. I also have no idea where I’ll live if I move. How did you choose your university? What should I know before applying?

Hey, Lukas! Deciding where to study is often more difficult than actually applying, so I get your struggle. The way I chose my university was by looking at rankings, because getting a high quality education is very important. However, you should also think about what’s most convenient for you. You mentioned you’re not sure whether to move to another city or stay in Bonn. I think if you want the “real” university experience, it’s always best to move and start fresh, but staying home can have its advantages – it will surely save money. BUT remember what’s most important!! Check the deadlines to make sure you don’t miss them and make sure you meet all requirements. Read everything carefully before applying and check on each university’s websire so you don’t miss anything. Btw, a good motivational letter is always a good idea :) Good luck!

Choosing what and where to study is so difficult! I had the same problem when I was in school and I took lots of interest tests. I even went on road trips to visit some of the towns and universities I was considering. In the end I chose Aachen, because it’s not a big city, it’s close to Belgium and the Netherlands and the university is really good in rankings. My advice is the same: visit some universities to see how they really are.

I know your problem Lukas. Before I decided to study in Dresden I did months of online research.
