Akkon University for Human Sciences in Berlin offers the study program „Bachelor of Science in Advanced Clinical Nursing: Psychosomatic and Psychiatric Care“. In a period of six semesters, students will be building on their professional experience, through innovative and updated scientific load, and by evidence-based, well-planned medical methods and procedures, improve their nursing practice. The focus of the studies of psychiatric care will be enhancing patients’ independent and autonomous life, despite the specific problems their condition entails. The subjects scheduled in the curriculum include medical law, nursing science, quality, risk and error management, ethics, communication, de-escalation, stress and drug management. Age specific psychosomatic and psychiatric aspects will also be tackled. Students will be trained to work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient care services, social services and nursing homes, among others.
