Akkon University for Human Sciences in Berlin offers the degree course “Master of Arts in Crisis, Conflict and Disaster Communication”. The studies continue for four semesters, in a full-time, block course form, and are equivalent to 120 credits. The degree placed special emphasis on the importance of communication under special circumstances, so communication and perceptual psychology are at the center of the studies. The process of communicating disasters, catastrophes, conflicts, crises, is a complex one, because of the pressure and uncertainty it is performed in, as well as the complex, and sometimes, almost impossible, orchestration among actors in the difficult situation. Specialists with this degree will learn how to deal with both internal and external to the organization procedures, by dominating the processes of informing, moderating and de-escalating. Strategic skills, oral and written communication training, as well as social media management, will be trained.
