The degree course “Bachelor of Arts in Health Education” of 210 ECTS is extended to candidates with a suitable vocational training in health care by the Akkon University for Human Sciences in Berlin. The qualification is a contuing educational stage for professionals, already employed in the medical and health sector, who plan to become educators themselves in health schools, or advisory insitutions and the health industry. They could also be practicing teachers at such institutions who need to update and modernize their metods and knowledge. Three areas of specialization are available, in the nursing and health education, or emergency pedagogy. Tuition and self study phases interchange and the teaching methodology is centered on the application and practical performance of the theory. Students can also follow a career as a speaker, coach or a research scientist with this qualification. The subjects included in the curriculum are from diverse areas, so a holistic overview of the profession is built. These include psychology, sociology, management, communication, law, basic medical subjects, pedagogy, didactics.
