Description
The Akkon University for Human Sciences in Berlin offers the study program “Bachelor of Arts in International Emergency and Disaster Relief”. The degree course has a duration of six full-time semesters, which accumulate 180 credit points. It is a study directed at those who believe their mission is to operate within the sphere of humanitarian aid and development cooperation. Challenges in these fields are numerous, and increase drastically, so a specialist needs to be prepared in terms of medical and health knowledge, social and political awareness, and intercultural competence. The flexibility of the studies is another attractive side to the course. There are self-study phases and presence blocks. Practical methodological and social and management skills, like decision-making and communication, combined with logistics, will be the necessary knowledge given to participants, but these will only come as scientific support to what they already possess as belief and philosophy – that there should be a global network for cooperation at difficult times. From the third semester on, there are three specialization courses to choose from – Global Health, International Cooperation and Development, Management and Logistics.
