The four-semester part-time degree course “Master of Arts in Nursing Education” exists at the Akkon University for Human Sciences in Berlin. The course gives advanced specialist knowledge on health, medical and nursing education, and prepares pedagogues, who will be involved in vocational teaching. They will be responsible for preparing, assessing and imparting theoretical lessons on the subject matter, in accordance with the current legal requirements for the educational level of such specialists. Multiple challenges have to be taken into account for the relevant training of such specialists, so the course relies primarily on the empirical evidence from the field training, to support which, in-depth theoretical knowledge is also supplied. Disciplines dealt with during the course are age and subject-related didactics, psychology, anthropology, alongside team development, management, nursing science. Nursing pedagogical internships and a final master’s thesis are the closing stage of the studies. Continuing one’s education to a higher level through investigation and scholarly research, is also a possible career path.
