The Bard College Berlin, founded in 1999, is a state-recognized college that is privately sponsored by the Bard College Berlin, A Liberal Arts University gGmbH. Round about 200 students from 50 countries are enrolled there in an interdisciplinary Bachelor degree program in the fields of Humanities and Social Science. The Bard College Berlin offer two Bachelor degree courses, namely: “BA in Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought“, and “BA in Economics, Politics, and Social Thought“. Further programs in addition to the Bachelor program include the so-called Project Year (a one-year advanced program), the Academy Year (a program for study beginners), the Arts-and-Society-in-Berlin program (program for students interested in Art and Theater Studies), the Begin-in-Berlin programm (program for foreign students from the USA that seek to study in Berlin), and the LAB-Berlin program (program for students from the USA and Canada). All programs are taught in English. The education offered by Bard College Berlin aims to combine classical education with the critical reflection of current challenges, and include, among other things, museum visits, courses in Berlin history and culture, as well as internships and opportunities for voluntary activities.
