BIMM Institute was established in 2001. Having expanded since its foundation, the Institute is currently operating as a group of eight independent colleges with over 7,500 students. The colleges are based in the UK and Europe, with two locations in Germany – in Berlin and Hamburg. Entirely concentrated on musical studies, the Institute aims to thoroughly prepare students for the music industry.
The top priorities for BIMM are high-quality music education and hands-on experiences through which talent is nurtured and professional growth is encouraged. The Institute offers a variety of in-depth musical degrees, such as “Music Production”, “Popular Music Performance – Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals”, “Songwriting”, “Music Business”, “Popular Music Practice”, and more. Lecturers at BIMM are leading industry professionals with real-world expertise. Through a collaborative process, students are able to work closely with the music industry. The success of alumni including James Bay, George Ezra, Ella Mai and Tom Odell serves to demonstrate the high standard of education at BIMM.
From 2020 BIMM Institute's colleges have introduced new degree courses, including Joint Honors options. Apart from esteemed degree programs, the Institute regularly organizes master classes with some of the music industry’s most prolific names. Students are able to draw from the experience of prestigious performers, producers, promoters and music professionals, participate in Q&A sessions, and gain crucial insight into industry methods and techniques.
