The Braunschweig University of Technology, founded in 1745, is a public university with approximately 20,000 students (including more than 2,700 international students). The University is headquartered in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony. At six departments with 120 institutes, the Braunschweig University of Technology offers 71 (in part interdisciplinary) study courses in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The study programs split up in 26 undergraduate Bachelor programs, 39 Master programs, and another six postgraduate study programs. The departments include the Carl-Friedrich Gauß Department (Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Science, Social Sciences), the Department of Life Sciences (Biotechnology/Biology, Chemistry/Food Chemistry, Pharmacy, Psychology), the Department of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Business Engineering, Bioengineering, Mobility and Transport), the Department of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, and the Department of Humanities and Educational Sciences. Engineering students participate in the development of autonomously driving cars, the development of digital television, and the construction of satellites. The Braunschweig University of Technology maintains partnerships with more than 400 institutes and research facilities from more than 60 countries.
