Offered by the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music Dresden the degree course “Bachelor of Music in Choir Conducting” is with a total length of eight semesters. It provides with the basic skills of choral conducting, teaches associated technical requirements of conducting technique and discusses basic interpretational fundamental questions primarily in the field of a cappella choral literature. During their study, students also fundamentally deal with the question of orchestral work and opera choral literature and will be able to perform, develop and perform choral works in small to medium ensembles as well as lighter opera literature. The program aim is to master the basic time signatures of conducting in order to be capable of using meter and tempo changes, fermatas and to develop a basic rhythmic sense and body awareness for conducting.
