In cooperation with the University of the Arts in Bern and Salzburg (Mozarteum University) the study course “Master of Music in New Music” is with a duration of four semesters provided by the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music Dresden. The program provides individual lessons on the instrument as well as ensemble work including improvisation, dealing with electronics or video and instrumental music theater. Through individual lessons on the instrument or in singing, the students learn instrument-specific playing techniques or the corresponding singing techniques, with a special focus on the playing and singing of micro intervals with attention to notation problems. Students expand their repertoire in the area of new music and deal with the special requirements of this repertoire such as rhythmic interplay, grasping complex scores and more. At the end of each academic year, students from all three universities are brought together in joint ensemble projects.
