The Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin, founded in 1991, is a state-recognized university of applied sciences in the human services field. It is in clerical sponsorship of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Berlin. More than 1,000 students are enrolled in Bachelor and Master programs in the fields of clinical social work, social work, education and training, inclusive education, religious education in schools, creative therapy/clinical art therapy, and social gerontology. The scope of Bachelor programs includes the degree courses “Social Work“ (B.A., also possible as an extra-occupational course), “Early Childhood Education“ (B.A.), “Inclusive Education“ (B.A.), “Religious Education in Schools“ (B.A.), “Social Gerontology“ (B.A., extra-occupational), and “Art and Creative Therapy“ (B.A., extra-occupational). The scope of Master programs is made up of the two consecutive degree courses “Social Work“ (M.A., with specializations in “Participation and Social Spatial Orientation“ and “Education and Consultation“) and “Inclusive Education“ (M.A.), as well as the three continuing education programs “Clinical Social Work“ (M.A.), “Master of Social Work as a Human Rights profession“ (M.A.), and “Integrated Health Care for Persons with a History of Psychiatric Illness“ (M.A.).
