The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Applied Nursing Science” offered by Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg provides students with a comprehensive education on how to be caregivers for people of all ages in various life situations. The first part of the program lasts 6 semesters and it is a vocation training in a nursing profession. Students complete it and at the same time attend classes. This first part is finished with the state examination. Students can decide and based on their choice they have to take an exam in “Health and Nursing”, “Health and Child Nursing” or “Elderly Care”. The second part of the program, which lasts three semesters is arranged in block stages entirely at the university. Upon successful completion of the program graduates can work in the health care sector – hospitals, facilities for elderly care, advice centres, etc.
