The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Applied Theology and Religious Education” offered by Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg provides students an education, leading to the position of community officer. Students will gain understanding of the Christian faith and how to act in a Christian manner. Participants will be equipped to sensitively discern people`s hopes and anxieties. They will be able to support people as pastors through the path of shaping their lives and their search for meaning. Moreover, students will learn how to motivate individuals to grow in their religion. Students will be competent for pastoral, religious, and educational areas, as well as a social worker position. There is an option to gain a second Bachelor´s degree in social work, because of the link between the two programs. Some of the topics that will be addressed throughout the program are Judeo-Christian faith, freedom and responsibility, pastoral management, etc. Graduates can work as parish officers in the pastoral service of the Catholic Church.
