Description

The Master's programme in Preventive Fire Protection is intended to close the training gap in fire protection between the study of architecture, civil engineering as well as other engineering disciplines and the high technical and personal requirements for expert engineers in fire protection in accordance with legal and professional requirements. It is primarily aimed at engineers from the broad spectrum of those involved in construction and is intended to impart necessary in-depth knowledge in fire protection. In addition, the aim is to lead students to specialist competence and entrepreneurial ability through scientific deepening and supplementing their practical professional experience.

The students acquire the necessary technical, methodological and personal competences under scientific guidance and supervision on the basis of planning exercises, sample projects, training and demonstrations in laboratories and research facilities as well as in communication workshops. The programme combines classroom and self-study phases, open-discussion seminars and exercises, excursions and extracurricular activities in a special way to promote intensive professional and personal contact with the lecturers and with each other.

In order to consolidate or expand one's position as a manager, it is also necessary to develop one's own personality. The development of one's own personality is stimulated in the Master's programme Preventive Fire Protection through specialised knowledge, especially in the field of expert knowledge (e.g. types, assignments, roles, actions / aspects of liability and insurance) and fire protection concepts (types, contents, differentiation, phases, participants). However, so-called people skills in managing staff are not only based on professional competence, but also on communicative competence (conflict management), personal competence (ability to self-reflect) or even methodological competence (e.g. solution orientation). All these mentioned competences are also taught with regard to personal development, especially in terms of a leadership personality.
