The Dresden University of Technology, founded in 1828 under a different name, is the largest university in Saxony and, measured by the number of students, one of the largest universities in Germany. Not least because of its award-winning institutional strategy entitled “The Synergetic Strategy“, the Dresden University of Technology belongs to the circle of so-called “elite universities“. Almost 36,000 students are offered 129 study courses at Diploma, Bachelor, and Master level. The University is organized in five schools and 14 faculties: the School of Science (Faculty of Science), the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies), the School of Engineering Sciences (Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering), the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Transportation and Traffic Science, Faculty of Business and Economics), and the School of Medicine (Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus). In addition to full-time studies, the Dresden University of Technology also provides part-time study opportunities in many direct study programs and all distance learning programs.
