Elstal University of Theology, founded in Hamburg-Hons in 1880 as Preacher’s Seminary of German Baptists and relocated to Wustermark-Elstal in 1997, is an ecclesiastical higher education institution sponsored by the Union of Evangelical Free Churches. It serves as a theology-related education facility. On offer are three study programs: the six-semester undergraduate Bachelor program “Protestant Theology“, the four-semester consecutive Master program “Protestant Theology“, as well as the four-semester Master program “Free-Church Diaconia“. The Bachelor and consecutive Master programs prepares for professional activities as a minister and combined with a Bachelor or Master degree in Social Sciences, for professional activities as a deacon within the Union of Evangelical Free Churches. The Master program “Free-Church Diaconia“ prepares students for professional activities as an ordained deacon as well as for professional activities in ministries and diaconal facilities. Elstal University of Theology currently has a total of approximately 50 students.
