Description
Landscaping is the study of landscape construction, design and establishments. It includes gardens and green spaces, outdoor facilities, parking areas, cemeteries, transport constructions, roads, leisure facilities and sports fields. Subjects covered in Landscaping programs range from Landscape Planning, Design, Architecture, Contracting, Plant Materials, Landscape Systems, Residential Landscape Design, Soil Sciences, Pest Management and Technical Principles to Algebra, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Plant Science, Biology, Computer Aided Design, Ecology and Climate Orientation. As well as learning theory, students are encouraged to gain practical experience interning at construction or maintenance firms, which is very valuable for acquiring skills such as project management and coordination, new techniques, decision making and adaptability, needed to further their careers. Landscaping is a technically challenging but rewarding field. Graduates can find employment in private landscaping businesses, garden centers as well as in the fields of private residencies design, public spaces design such as nurseries and parks, landscape management and more. They can work as environmental planners, groundskeepers, landscape designers, landscape attendants, grounds maintenance specialists, landscape supervisors, landscapers and many others.
