Description
The German-language study program “Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation” at Film University Babelsberg is designed to enable those with an interest in animation to develop an individual artistic style. The course of studies covers all the essential steps in the production of animated auteur films. Students are introduced to the process of animated filmmaking, from the development of the first idea, the story, and the visual style to the creation of a storyboard, character design, artistic implementation, and recording and film playout. Studies include the artistic practical, and technological basics of all classic, experimental, and digital 2D and 3D animation techniques. The program is focused on intensive practical training. Students are involved in various projects and individually provided with feedback. They have access to the University’s modern technological equipment, consisting of analogue and digital animation studios, 2D and 3D computer animation labs, a render farm, video and audio editing workstations, compositing suites, a motion capture system, and student work rooms. Graduates may pursue jobs in the film, game or art industries.
