The study program “Master of Fine Arts in Animation Direction” at Film University Babelsberg, is geared towards individuals who have successfully completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Animation or have comparable qualifications. They are given a chance to expand their artistic, technical, dramaturgical, and concept design skills. The course of studies is focused on fields such as animation, storyboarding, concept design, background art, and character design, as well as modeling, rigging, texturing, shading or lighting, compositing, and art direction. Besides, students are taught to plan production of an animated film and manage a team effectively. The in-depth project and graduation modules consist of the following: Short Artistic Project, Artistic or Scientific Elective Module, Artistic Projects, and Master’s Thesis. The competencies acquired by graduates are in great demand within areas such as film, TV, games, illustration, sequential art, and liberal arts. The growing significance of animation for the Internet and modern technologies nowadays open up even more opportunities.
