The study program “Master of Arts in Creative Technologies” at Film University Babelsberg combines audio-visual media technologies, software development studies, and an artistic-creative exploration of novel forms of expression in film and digital media art. Emphasis is put on all the mechanisms that play an important role in filmmaking – from graphics, sound and visual effects, through traditional production processes, to novel forms of storytelling in XR, cross-media, and interactive media. Students are provided with solid technical understanding and practical production experiences, and develop problem-solving skills. Classes are taught in English and German and cover a wide of range of topics such as Software Development and Creative Coding, Theoretical Backgrounds for Audio and Graphics, Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality, Interaction, Physical Computing, Programming Interfaces and Technical Direction, Movie Production Processes, Academic and Artistic Research, Research Methodologies and Innovation, as well as Film, Storytelling and Digital Media Art. Graduates can be employed by film- and postproduction companies, animation or sound studios, advertising agencies, interactive media production houses, and exhibition and scenic installation productions.
