Description
The interdisciplinary study program “Master of Arts in Film Heritage” at Film University Babelsberg trains individuals in the field of global audiovisual heritage. Students learn how to review, archive, re-contextualize, and cope with many different films. Not only does the course of studies put an emphasis on curatorial, editorial, and program work in the field of historical films, but also on the documentary, artistic, academic, and commercial use of archived audiovisual material. The University collaborates with Filmmuseum Potsdam and a big number of other partners based in Berlin and Brandenburg, thus combining the acquired theoretical knowledge with practice. The program encompasses subjects such as cultural memory and cultures of remembrance, theory and history of archives, media libraries and museums, use of archived audiovisual material, film history and communication, source studies in media history, media law and politics, media archeology, media technology, as well as digital environments. Graduates can build a career in dimensions including management and public relations, media politics and media law, as well as didactic materials and strategies.
