Description
The study program “Master of Music in Film Music” at Film University Babelsberg is designed to help young musicians improve their composing skills. Students acquire theoretical and dramaturgical knowledge and learn more about the fields of compositing and music production. Apart from gaining critical insight into issues in media theory, they are also encouraged to develop their own artistic approach. The course of studies regards film as an art form and provides professional expertise in music dramaturgical and stylistic means and techniques. The basic and study modules include Use and Composition of Film Music, Orchestration, Sound Design and Music Production, Media Theory, Legal and Entrepreneurial Module, Scoring for Film Projects, and Master’s Thesis. Students benefit from small class sizes as they are given personalized instructions. Furthermore, they are encouraged to take part in various projects allowing them to closely collaborate with other disciplines. The experience students develop on the course prepares them for a career in the areas of advertising, theater, and audio plays. They could also work as freelancers, music producers, music supervisors, television music journalists, or orchestrators.
