The study program “Master of Arts in Media Studies” at Film University Babelsberg is suitable for individuals who have acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in a discipline of social sciences, the humanities, or the arts. Students are taught to engage with theoretical concepts, analytical, esthetic, and historical issues, as well as basic and applied research principles. The course of studies offers specializations in History of Film and Television, Popular Entertainment, Children, Youth and the Media, as well as Esthetics and Artistic Practice. Through their participation in empirical research projects, students are able to put into practice the theoretical knowledge and skills they have already obtained. They take modules such as Media Analysis, Media theory, Audience and Market Research, Esthetics and Dramaturgy, Media Design and Planning as well as Global Communication, Media History, Children’s Culture, Program Scheduling and Format Development, Development and Implementation of Multimedia Contents, and Project Management. Graduates find employment in such fields as media and market research, cultural and event management, program scheduling and planning for audiovisual media, as well as in journalistic, editorial, and conceptual jobs.
